The Animal Grantmakers' Annual Conference provides a unique opportunity for members to gather in informal settings, network and hear from some of the leading experts in the field of animal protection on a wide variety of challenging issues and timely topics relevant to funders.
Presentations and panel discussions have covered such broad topics as collaborative approaches to the surplus companion animal problem, wildlife protection and environmental conservation, animal hoarding, and the impact of euthanasia and laboratory animal sacrifice on animal care workers.
Past Conferences in Washington DC, Dallas, Seattle, Boston, Denver, West Palm Beach, Napa, CA, and Vancouver, BC have featured speakers such as Earth Day founder Denis Hayes, presidential speech writer Matthew Scully, Humane Society of the United States CEO Wayne Pacelle, Pew Trust's Josh Reichert, veterinary school dean Shirley Johnston, British zoologist David Macdonald, dolphin expert Denise Herzing and other noted authors, attorneys, educators, scientists, veterinarians, shelter directors, activists and fellow grantmakers.
Representatives of non-member foundations that are interested in learning more about Animal Grantmakers are invited to attend their first conference at no charge.
